whats the news on Servie Pack 2 for Windows 2000?

I installed SP2 Beta on Sunday.... Actually installed Via 4-1 final drivers first (4.29A), saw my Sandra HDD score jump up by nearly 2000.... Then installed SP2, dropped 800...overall increase of 1200... NOTE on the first sp2 install, it hung, had to reboot, hung, rebooted again with last known good configuration...worked, installed sp2 again, so far everything is running fine... IE 6.0 is GREAT too, much faster than 5.0 or 5.5....

really? I installed it and it looks and acts no different.. I was expecting a new interface... sad..

IE6 is only faster in rendering web pages if your computer can get the page downloaded in less time that it takes to render. that is on DSL or Cable only. or if you usse local (intranet/LAN) pages, or even some stuff you develop so theyre on you hard drive.

Mixed verdict on IE6:

- good news: hour glass is back
- bad news: no autohide for the favorites pane under full screen mode
