Whats the newest version of DirectX?

So what is it? Offical and Beta also is the beta working ok?

I am on win2k.

Official is 8.0a

Beta is 8.1

Lots of people have had problems with the beta expiring. And without DirectX your system is crippled. Also, the directX uninstalling utility is only available for Win9x. So I'd avoid the beta and use 8.0a.
