Not sure what defines know, if you mean have met and spoken to, and have had a conversation with I could do the comedy one in a few instances.

Not like someone that I would be hanging out with on the weekends.

So I'll put er there.

The richest person I know personally is my uncle.
He's a partner in a large law firm.
I have no idea what his net worth is. It's not Gulfstream/buy your own pro sports team money, but he has two multi-million dollar homes, takes his family on multiple first class trips to Europe every year, and paid for all his kids to go to expensive elite private universities.
His brother is probably a billionaire or close to it. He is the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, travels on his own private jet, etc.

Wouldn't your uncle's brother also be your uncle?

I don't know the exact current net worth of one of my friends, but he is heir to a fortune (billion dollar company) and has never had to work a day in his life. He has a trophy wife, a multi million dollar house, and is literally just waiting for the day he gets his giant check.

Good friend from college (roommate for 3 years, best man at my wedding) did a startup that 95% of you have heard of (not 95% of everyone, but 95% of people on a tech nerd forum). He hasn't cashed out yet, but his other cofounders have, so he's the only one left who owns a good chunk of it, and the business is still growing. He's not worth $100million (yet), but several tens anyway.

I've "met" other people who have more, but he'd be the highest combination of "know well" + "worth".

SO is an private full-time accountant (one of several) for a family who measures their families wealth in B's. I've met a few of them. I don't really "know" them, but I do know them.

I don't know anyone, even casually, who would even be considered wealthy, much less rich.

I'm guessing some family member who likely has around $1M in retirement savings somewhere.
