I was going to say soccer but how many games are broadcasted at any given time compared to something like baseball with 162games/season?

Lol, baseball. In any given football (soccer) season, we each team will have over 30 league matches. And we have about twenty teams per league, and 30 leagues in Europe. Wait, we forgot about Asia, Africa, and North and South America. So, we have 100 leagues (conservative estimate). And whoops, each national league probably has at least four divisions (and most get some TV air time, in Europe at least).

So yeah, not baseball.
 
Where is Nascar? Doesn't that have the highest number of fans in the US?

For the world I voted Soccer. Europe goes apeshit over this sport.
 
I can't believe freaking soccer is getting so many votes (am I being trolled?), there is no way its the most watched sport, I know its the most played because its cheap to play and other countries can't afford football pads or baseball bats. But no way is a sport that unwatchable and boring the most watched sport in the world. I've never met anyone in my life who liked soccer.

I'm pretty sure there is some correlation between most played and most watched.

I don't buy it, swimming, running, cycling and volleyball are probably as widely played as soccer, but few watch them. Nascar/F1 racing are huge spectator sports but few people have ever raced a F1 car. Soccer cannot be the most watched sport because it is intrinisically boring to watch because it has no scoring.

Soccer is UNQUESTIONABLY the most watched sport in the world. There is nothing that even comes close to touching it. I'll REALLY shock you and let you know that Cricket... yes CRICKET is in the top 5 (if not 3) easily too.
 
I think the ranking is actually F1, Cricket, and then Soccer. Don't have any sources, this is just what I've heard before.

I question that and most people I know would too. How many people know of a soccer player other than David Beckham or Pele? Name me one soccer team that isn't Brazil or a country.

The only time soccer gets any audience is once every four years during the world soccer cup, and that's only because its nation-vs-nation the same way that curling gets an audience during the olympics. I've never heard anybody watching soccer or curling outside that once-every-four-year event. Is there even a soccer league like NFL/MLB/NBA? I don't think so, otherwise it would be on ESPN. So how can soccer be the most watched sport?
