my system: athlon 1133mhz, epox 8kta3 mobo, 256mb ram, msi geforce2gts, 30gb ibm hd, etc etc

sometimes, after about two hours of playing deus ex, my video locks up completely, requiring me to reboot. i read an anandtech article about athlons needing good power supplies, and how the agp slot pulls a lot of power... and i have a generic 300w ps. so could this be the cause of my infrequent crashes? or are my symptoms inconsistent with power supply problems? for one thing, the music still continues playing after the video freezes.

my other guess was heat issues. one thing i noticed is that after the first crash while playing, it's more likely to crash if i immediately reboot and resume play. built-up heat over time?

i doubt it's a software/os issue at all, since it seems like a video crash. do my guesses make sense? i don't want to slap down $50 for another power supply if i don't have to.

I'd start by looking at the heat issue first,I'd remove the case cover and then run the game like you normally do, if the crashes stop, you know it''s a heat related issue.

I might also uninstall/ reinstall my video drivers
