Actually, original 427 Cobras "only" trade hands in the $300,000 to $400,000 range. A lot of money, certainly, but not as stratosphereic as some more modern supercars.

I remember having seen somewhere that during the collector car boom in the 1980's, the highest price paid was something like $1.8 million for a Ferrari 365GTB4 Daytona. But that was a long time ago that I read it and I may be recalling the price wrong.

Not really a car per se... but the ones that they use at the salt flats to break the shound barrier cost a hell of a lot of money. Millions in engineering and they only make one car... thats ehough to make my EMan roomie's head explode.
