Question What's the most efficient video encoding processor right now?

Usually I find myself looking at cpu marks per dollar, or sometimes cpu marks per Watt, when evaluating a processor. Right now I'm using an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 that I got about a year ago for around $150. I'm also getting ready to build a second system with a Ryzen 5 5600G processor as the core.

Is there a website anywhere out there that graphically compares the current retail processor's performance per Watt or performance per $?

I'm usually doing it manually, but I figured somebody might already have it done so we can quickly glance at it.

Thanks!

Is video encoding similar to 3D rendering, resource-wise? If so you can check out Techpowerup's CPU reviews. They have efficiency charts using Cinebench.

It wasn't difficult to guess 5950X being the king, but 12400 and 5700 are right up there, too.

Overall, the Intel Core i9 12900K is the best CPU for video editing. Puget Systems observed up to a 25–40% performance advantage with Intel CPUs over AMD 5000 series processors in rendering tests using Premier Pro. Additionally, Intel has a huge advantage over AMD when using well-known codecs like H. 264 and HEVC.

Now let's see the same chart with points per dollar of purchase price. :)
