I'm talking ENTRY LEVEL here. No experience except for building and troubleshooting some minor computer problems for friends and myself.

TIA

Get a helpdesk/call center job(yes, it will suck) and talk to/kiss the ass of everybody in the IT/MIS dept as often as you can. In the mean time, study, study, study and hope for a better job in the company to open up.

I know hit smight sound harsh..but how;s about go to school?
I mean really with the lack of jobs out there right now, and the HUGE amount of talent, the chances you will walk into somewhere and get a job
because you usck up to the WAN guys or server guys is about zero.

be realistic, do the work and get the know how.

I'm currently in school taking up a CENT (Computer Electronics Networking Technology) program. I just got into it, it is going to be a four year BS degree program next semester. But until then I want a job doing something with computers.

Go buy a lamp and rub it till a genie comes out. He'll offer you more but why ask for a job when you can have it all?

admin jobs are very coveted actually. There's usually a line of people wanting even the lowest grunt level of networking and you'd have to start in helpdesk/pco first.

You can also usually find a job at a Value Added Reseller (VAR) building systems, then move to reparing systems, then some networking, then installing networking, then then move into Admin.

Business cannot usually afford to have their networking and communication systems used as an educational tool. "Network down" generally equates to "money lost."

Some places will take interns (little/no money), but having some connections in the company usually help.

There's always the military: excellent training, benefits, documented experience ...

FWIW

The last couple of statements is what I really meant to get acrosss, there is no magic to getting a good admin job.
You need the education or experience for sure!

I also have to agree that network time = money wether it is servers or desktops or networks...people cant afford (especialy now) to let someone play around trying to learn systems.
