Whats the minimum download speed

At my dorm you can buy different packages which are all pretty expensive.

128

256

384

512

512 - 256 are really expensive.. I believe the 512 was 310 per semester. Screw that..
I only plan on playing Warcraft 3 and Counterstrike Source online.. Do you think I can get by on 128? I play on a really close server now on my Comcast line and I get a ping of 12 - 20 usually, and I only play on that server.

B/W =! Latency, so ping times are irrelevant. Use Perfmon to monitor/log how much traffic you use while playing now, then buy that much.

Listen to nweaver. BTW, is this a University or a boarding school or something? You're getting jacked if they are making you pay for that bandwidth at a University, they've already gotten your money! Also $310 for 4 months is a rip off for 512, I pay $55 a month for 9mbit, and when I was in the dorms the schools gigabit connection was free, that was nice! It's actually still free as long as I'm on campus, I just use their wifi or plug into a port and log in.

no.. its seperate from the university.. but made for the students.. its a much nicer living area since the university dorms are pretty bad.

from what I've seen games use 256 - 384 of bandwidth. for optimal performance you may want to do 512.
