Been thinking about this a lot lately, as quite a few members on here have interesting usernames (which I admit I do not understand what they mean).

So where did your username come from? Whats the meaning/story behind it?

Me:
I am a musician, studied music theory. "Mixolydian" is one of the 7 "modes" or scales in music. It is based on the 5th degree/dominant of the scale. Link in my sig has more info.

I began using this username when I was a wow nerd, kept using it so I don't have to remember different names.

I started using "Don Vito" as a handle for playing Quake 2 back in 1997 or so. I borrowed the name from my cat, Don Vito, who was obviously named after Don Vito Corleone, the Godfather. I then used it for various online forums, including this one. I added the Corleone to my handle on this forum after Don Vito, Bam Margera's uncle, was arrested for alleged sexual assault, to clarify that I had not taken the name based on him.

When I was studying biology at the university my e-mail contained "@biostud.ku.dk" as in "biology student".

A martingale is a sequence of random variables (i.e., a stochastic process) for which, at a particular time in the realized sequence, the expectation of the next value in the sequence is equal to the present observed value even given knowledge of all prior observed values at a current time.

Mine is obvious to any gamer. I go by a variety for no reason other than I get tired of usernames after a while. Mostly limited to whatever name the site doesn't have taken. I never cared for names that make little sense to others as it is a reflection of how others may or may not perceive you. I had a nonsensical evil like username once on some site and I seemed to have gotten more negative or sarcastic responses than I did after I changed it. So I really think people will want to dislike you more if your name tries to sound too godlike or badass like.
In multiplayer games, I had a badass type of name and everyone seemed to target me a lot more as if to challenge a persona I didn't really have.
I just remembered also in an online chess game I used something like chess king or something like that and that seemed to draw top players to want to beat me, cheat and then put me down.

So a name should be thought out depending where you are.

First part is an abbreviation of an old blog I had. Stupid name so I shorted it when I created my gadget & gaming blog.

Mine was a name I used gaming, and I use it everywhere because it's easy to remember, and ALWAYS available :^D

I also like the fact I get frequent misspellings, and it pisses some people off. Just because I'm that kind of asshole :^D
