how do I get NTFS to support above 2 TB? I have a 3TB SATA device that I'm having trouble getting it to run under server 2000 standard.

There is a 2TB limit for volumes on MBR disks (x86). AFAIK this is more a limitation of the drive/arch. than it is the OS.

Under GPT disks (64 bit) that limit is bumped up to 18 ExaBytes (yummy).

You may be able to get around this by making the disk dynamic and creating the first partition and than extending it; if that doesnt work try making 2 partitions and spaning them.

nm, figured it out. :)

care to let us know how ya did it:D

when you go to create a volume in w2k server, it'll ask ya what type...just pick spanned and them select all your logical drives that you want to link up. That's it, it was too simple :p Took a while to figure that one out though ;)

now I have 3 TB of goodness :)

Correct Spy. The answer is that we do not support FORMATTING a partition larger than 2 TB, but you can definately span them once you have them made.
