What's the lowest you've seen a NIC card priced at and where?

you can get them free after MIR at a few places. Just go shopping. If you pay more than $20 for one, you got ripped off. Newegg has them pretty cheap.

Two years ago, I got a couple NICs from Dell for about $0.95 each. 🙂 No more though.

i bought ten in that deal, i finally used them up (well, i have 4-5 in boxen at home) a couple months ago , with shipping it was like $14 for ten 😀

just get them off the FS/T forum, from $5 to $10 depending on the maker

I got a 10/100 for free. I used to work at the Office of Information Technology at Saint Leo University. A technician threw one out thinking it was bad. It wasn't working in a brand new Dell. I figured I'd give it a shot in another system, and it worked just fine. It wasn't seated right because a defect kept the pins from extruding far enough. (The board extruded too far past the end of the pins. A file would have made it work in the original system.) I jammed it in just fine into a system that is now my primary webserver.
