When I was a kid on vacation with my parents, I remember stopping at a texaco station, $.19 per gal (used to be something called gas wars) :Q

In the $.40s or $.50s. I remember when it first hit $.75/gallon. I was in elementary school and I remember thinking that it was expensive. And I was still in elementary school (probably 6th or 7th grade - 1978/79 or so) when it first hit $1.00/gallon. So...25 years ago gas was $1/gallon. And now it's only $1.50/gallon? Not bad considering inflation....

Before there was OPEC and the early 70's oil crisis.... just barely a teen, 0.25/gal.

THose were the days.. seatbelts were optional, kids played in the back seats, and a V8 got around 10 mpg and went zoom with realitely low tech. I know we are much safer and high tech now, but there was a simplicity to driving a car that has been lost for the ages....

people tuned their cars by hand and tweaked their carbs... for fun and a few extra hp...no one cared about gas prices!!!!!
