What's the likelihood of the US being invaded or turned against?

I hate to be a pessimist but if history truly repeats itself is'nt it just a matter of time before the US either gets invaded or turned against by one of its former allies? Also it does'nt help matters any that terrorism is becoming increasingly more sophisticated and there are a lot of enemies of the US who have a hard-on about destroying the country.

The middle east hates us, France hates us and lets not even talk about China. As with any world power in previous centuries, the balance always shifts. What would happen to the US when they no longer hold the power that they currently have?

France is of no concern. They couldn't invade your moms panty drawers even if they wanted to.

They'll sit there and complain all they can but when it comes time to action they'll be behind us. It's the dirty tactics of some of these psycho's in the middle east and possibly China that we should keep an eye on imo.

No one is capable of "invading" the U.S.. Now, there certainly could be another suprise attack... especially away from Washington. Maybe on the Presidents brother... dam tallahassee... dam dam dam.

For the record, China doesn't hate us. France doesn't hate us. The world doesn't hate us. They hate their own government, but many of them are suppressed into hating America because they are not permitted to challenge their own governments. Offer anyone in the world a free pass to the United States, Britian, Germany, Japan, Australia, France, Spain or any number of free nations and they will gladly accept it.

As usual, there are americans who think they know better than we do why we do not agree with everything the US does (although this is the first time i have seen anyone blame it on our respective governments), it's americans like you (arrogant and extremely uninformed about anything outside the US) that gives the americans a bad rep...

I have lived in the US for years, now i live in Sweden, i wouldn't want to return to live in the US.... You are glad you are american and that's fine, but most of the people who live in the rest of the world prefer their country to yours...

It's not power we have to worry about, the reason for the war, Bush, and everything else is basically the economy is much worse than you think. We are statistically on the brink of a world economical meltdown way worse than the depression. There is no saving it, a couple countries are defaulting on their world bank payments in the billions, the US economy is being artificially stimulated, but not for too much longer. Once we fall, either everything will go to hell, or some brave leaders will step up and setup a new, better world.

I think he's referring to how global empires/nation-states tend to collapse in on account of their own weight - i.e. Rome, England, etc.

Cnaada or Mexico would have to all first in ordetr to establish a base of operations for a ground assault... there's no way someone could fly that much manpower without it being noticed..

You are paranoid, go see a doctor about that it's unhealthy in the long run...

Why would France hate you? How do u get that idiotic impression (same for China I'd say). And who are those enemies u speak of again (besides the obvious terrorist who are enemies of just about everybody)?

I believe that when a people think their country will endure forever, then that is evidence that it cannot. Rome, China's dynasties, the Egyptians, every power has fallen. Every one. But... but... we are AMERICANS! That cant happen to us because we are wiser/smarter/more powerful than anyone else. Most of these civilizations fell due to internal influences. Other countries just came in and picked over their bones.

Will we be invaded? Not likely in our lifetime. Not enough time for another power to grow enough to challenge us. I could propose hypotheticals all day about an unforseeable future, but who knows what will happen in 200 or a thousand years?

Until they get taken over.

:)

Which brings up another question... no countries are expanding anymore... when will we next see someone take over another country and annex them? Even after WWII we gave back Germany and Japan their land. Nobody has the gull to take some land and claim it theirs anymore.

....they last even longer when countries like the US pull their pacifist asses out of the frying pan when they come crying for help.
