i always read a lot of posts of you guys comparing monitors big and small. some of you buy tvs and use them as monitors. but when i have read them, i didn't have money and wasn't looking to upgrade...now i am.

i have read the LCD sticky a couple of times and would say i am pretty familiar with that stuff. just not quite caught up on the latest and greatest models. budget is around $500. need vga and hdmi, tuner not a big deal but would be a plus.

I just picked up the Acer 22" AL2216WBD @ Compusa for $209, shipped free, -$20 cash back from Amazon. No HDMI, but it does have HDCP-compliant DVI. No speakers, either.

I'd just try to get a 1920x1200 monitor. I don't see how people can stand such big monitors stuck at 1650x1080...

So far I love my Samsung 245BW just be careful. I got mine for 199:) (Freak best buy accident in pricing) and now to run things at that resolution as far as games you'll be needing a nice card.
