I had a client who installed Hummingbird and pooched his RAS connection and internet explorer settings. As soon as he uninstalled it, everything started working. Has anyone ever encountered this program?

I use it daily. It allows a Windows based machine to run any Unix program without recompiling/optimizing. Basically I use a program, Gambit, which the company is still to cheap to rewrite for the growing number of PC users (it was written for Alpha machines).

Edit: I've had no problems with it at all. However, I've heard that early Hummingbird versions have lots of trouble on Win2k (the newer versions have solved this problem).

Basically, it makes a PC mimic a unix/linux box. So you can use any unix program, including x-windows. Makes networking a breeze between different operating systems.
