My old conroe E6600 had multipliers from 6 through 9, my new conroe is showing a max of 20.. Me lucky? The bad part is I am just getting started down the path of OC'ing. Thanks.

It will only work at 9 regardless of how high you set, but you can go down. It is the same as all of the mobile chips that thermal or save energy based on multiplier not fsb. That is why it goes down but not up. With CPUID and some hacks there was a way with the ES's to go multiplier up for a while, but that has since been taken out of the retail editions.

Cheers.

You're no doubt going to try the higher ones, so go for it.
But as mentioned, they ain't gonna work.

It may show a max of 20 but odds are it's only works at 9 and below. Give it a try though and post your overclocks as you go.
