never gotten pulled over and asked to take a breathalizer.
the few times i had anything to drink before driving I always waited a long time, til i was sober, before driving again, and when id drive, i would drive extremely carefully just to ensure i wouldnt get pulled over.

i have a question:

how do cops even determine whether or not you've had alcohol? Granted they will ask, but also granted many people lie when asked. And suppose you popped a breathmint in before they pulled you over?

and also, why would someone drive in a way that would give police an opportunity to pull them over? couldnt all drunk drivers just drive carefully (not speed, not swerve around) and avoid getting pulled over? (provided you didnt have too much to drink)

I for one would never speed or do anything like that, if I had anything to drink that evening.

Well if you mean the breathalizers the cops have, I've never blown one. I don't drive drunk, ever. Usually I don't drink at parties, I just drive the drunks around and get them to pay for my food and gas. Way easier to hit on women when you're sober as well.

If you're talking about any breathalizer, I think I hit .15 the one time I tried.

My ex-brother-in-law was a policeman in Nashville. He pulled over a lady who he could tell was an alcoholic who blew a .48. He said that the sad fact was that she seemed less intoxicated than some .15s he had seen. She pleaded with him just to follow her home but he had to arrest her.

Uh, wouldn't you have to be pulled over for suspicion of DUI to get to blow for the officer? ;)

The only breathalyzer I'm ever taken was at a party and blew .087 (eight beers in about 1:15). Seemed about right with what they say. I felt barely tipsy, but I guess .08 is good enough to get arrested. I wouldn't have wanted to drive then.

The highest was .16, which wasn't far off from me, but the kid seemed absolutely trashed.

Here, we have probable cause - smell of alcohol detected, slurred speech, odd behaviors. They request you take the breathalizer and if you don't do it, you lose your license. I've know a lot of people that have drove home drunk and made it just fine. But, it would suck to get pulled over with a burnt out tail light and be given a DUI, though you were drinking and did break the law, so I guess it makes sense.

Duh? You think they pull people over for fun? They do it because drunk drivers are BAD drivers and should be taken the fck off the road.

Never gotten pulled over...though the breathalizer you get from sharper image is fun. It seems fairly accurate too, even though it only goes up to .20. After that it starts beeping at you. :)

seems like a very smart idea for someone who drinks frequently.

how old are you? what are your reasons for not drinking? I mean surely you've been offered an opportunity or 2 at one point?

Judge, revoke that man's license. He just admitted to being in controll of a vehicle, while at a .14!

Are you just trolling, or do you really live your life that way? :|

I'm 18. Frankly I think it's stupid. Of course I have been offered, and at times even thought about going ahead. But, whats the point? You drink, you get drunk (probably not a good feeling), you do stupid things, then you dont feel good the next day. Your drinking poison. It can really fvck up your life.

And, its just against everything I have been taught growing up.
