What's the gunk that accumlates on the rollers of a ball mouse?

Dead skin, old food, misc stuff... Why are you still using a ball mouse? Optical mice were the best invention since hardware accelerated graphics.
 
Skin cells and oils from your hands. It's the same material that coats your entire house in a thin layer. If you ran your hands over your kitchen counter as much as your ball mouse on your mousepad, you'd be scraping black gunk on a regular basis.

Actually, it is the feces of the creatures that eat the previously mentioned dead skin cells and food gunk and oils. Be thankful for that or there would be a lot more matter than you presently have to deal with...

even my mom uses an optical mouse on her original slot athlon 600mhz, win98se, machine...she insists on win98 for some midi piano program she loves
