What's the general feeling towards Sprint

My roommate has this phone (MM-A900). I haven't really kept up with new cool cell phones, but this thing blew me away! It's the most amazing thing (short of a palm pilot cell phone) I've ever seen.

Here's a pic of my phone - closest I could find, but you get the idea.

So here's the deal, I get my cell phone through my dad's business and they are currently in negotiations with edge wireless about renewing their account there (edge = cingular affiliate... I guess Cingular bought them out, but they havent switched over in my area yet, so they can't give me cingulars $99 Razr deal, it would cost $170 to which is said screw that)

But how do people feel about sprints plans. I might be tempted to get that phone my roommate has if my pops business went with sprint rather than edge.

Any info would be hot! Thanks :)

I dunno much about their plans, but that commercial with the guy that waits around all day for the girl to call him back is lame.

they're becoming more expensive than verizon in their pricing without verizon's network. although sprint's tv over phone service has better channels (espn ftw!). and of course sprint has locked up all the cable companies so they may soon have a bluetooth phone that uses VOIP when you're in range of your cable and sprint towers when you're not.

verizon should have that phone soon.

They have some good things going for them but, if you travel alot they are not the way to go...their coverage sucks outside of major cities...

Unless u want a bunch of roaming charges....

go Verizon or Cingular (customer service sucks though but, in my experience it's getting better)

I use to have cingular it was horrible, now i have sprint and it is much better. Also with spring $5 and no roaming charges, or you can get the family plan and no roaming charges.

I didn't know that about the roaming, that makes it a much better option than in the past.....they must be geting better since the nextel merger.

His point remains valid. If you travel you are foolish to use CDMA. I know a lot of people love Verizon's network, but if you travel -- especially internationally -- good luck.

I've used my phone with T-Mobile in about 20 states, Austria, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, etc.

i have sprint. it works fine for me. i never lose a signal and i'm gonna be getting the MM-A900 in a week when i have to renew my plan. as far as pricing goes, i'm not to sure with that, my entire family gets service through my dad because he gets some discount through where he works. but with wireless companies alot of YMMV occurs so even though my experience rocks, others probably hate it for sh!tty signals and such.

my vote is

I have had Sprint for about 6 years or so, never really had ao issue with them. Of course I dont travel much, so thats not a big issue for me.

The service and billing has been virtually flawless for me, never a mistake or mis-communication that I can recall.

I did have an issue last Spring when my phone (1 month out of warranty) flat out stopped ringing, the ringer was broken. After reading a bit on-line it seems many people had the same issue with the phone I had. I felt that Sprint should have done something to help me with a new phone, but they would not. I just bought one out of pocket and am considering leaving them in April when my current contract runs out, just because of the that deal.

I just really dont know if any other company will be any better.

I don't like sprint very much right now. I have a nextel, and when they merged, my QOS went down the tube. I've had random times when calls just wouldn't go through, and they are 5x more frequent since the merger.

I've had sprint for 5+ years and have always had a signal where I needed it; try the middle of Yosemite. Try that GSM! Anyhow, I also have an A900 and am quite satisfied with it.

I do agree though that the Power Vision stuff and all the extras (Picturemail is an extra?) is making it expensive. I had to fight a scratch just to get 500 text messages included in a $15 PV pack. Today I find out Picture Mail is extra. Time to see I can pull another cat out of my hat and get that free as well.

I like sprint. I have used them for 3 years.. had some growing pains but i am overall happy with everything from them. The one thing i dont like is my phone and they wont give me better credit on my phone at all. Its an 8200. Battery on this thing sucks.

i've been with Cingular/ATT for the last 7 years and I loved every day of it until i ran up a $1400 bill and was stuck with it. I just switched over to the Sprint SERO (www.sprint.com/sero) plan, and I'm moderately happy with it. I paid $200 for the phone (Samsung A940 w/ a 2.0mp camera), and ~35 a month for service. I remember Cingular having better clarity in the calls, but I could be mistaken. Give it a shot. If you don't like it, you have 14 days to cancel service without a penalty.

Since they shafted me for $1600.00 in a month and a half, my opinion of them has been rather low. That was after using them for eight or so years. They told me that they added night and weekends for $5.00 extra a month and I didn't use it for a couple of years. Then when I used it, I found that they had never added it.
