Pretty lame, but 135 in a 1990 Toyota Camry V6. 175 HP, automatic tranny. I'm pretty sure that's the top speed of the car, and I wouldn't risk that again to try for faster ;)

To my knowledge it was going about 275 mph

It was in a Boeing 747 while taking off, the time we were on the runway could be counted as being on land...

Yes, I'm a prick....

About 155 in a supercharged firebird formula.. then I got scared as I'm sure were the other idiots in the car :Q

If it were a straight road I would have gone all the way

I've driven 100mph in a 4X4. Chevy Z71 extended cab 1995 model.
The terrible thing is is that I was drunk at the time. :Q

How about where also... most tracks don't have the length to get production cars up to top speed.

I drove 95 in my stock 02 WRX... 227 hp, 217 ft-lbs tq, top speed = 145 drag limited, it was on a highway around 11:00 pm. That's about the fastest I'd go on uncontrolled roads in any car. There's a track day coming up though... Most people in WRXs hit 120 on the straight :D.

I've driven about 150-160 mph max. In the USA. ;)

A passenger plane doesn't need to go that fast before take off. I think it's around 80-150 mph for take-off, depending on the size and weight of the plane. 275mph for a plane with it's weight would melt it's tires or fall apart before it could reach that speed.

That's 386km/h. I didn't know standard Mercedes can go that fast :Q

Assuming coefficients don't change, it takes sixteen times the power to go 240mph compared to 60mph. So if takes 25hp to keep the car at constant speed at 60mph, you need 400hp to maintain 240mph.
