110MPH in a 50MPH stretch of a highway that runs through Pittsburgh in my '97 Oldsmobile Achieva.

It was great, I was coming up in the left lane and everyone just started merging over to the right lane for no reason (no lane closure or anything) so I took that as my time to blow past every one of them.

I've hit the limiter (around 115MPH) on a Toyota Celica, a VW Golf, and a BMW 325e (actually, that one might have been a bit faster). Always on clear, empty highways. Two of those times were in Montana.

I was able to test comfortably on a mile strip brand new round which is really quiet, and the police never patrol it. You could almost say it is the perfect test road. It was a dual carriageway with a speed limit of 70Mph.

In the UK you get an 'instant ban', WTF does that mean? Have you seen the show top gear? The episode where the guy sees whether or not it's faster to drive a sports car from england to italy? or was it france, not quite sure or to take a plane there. He was doing like 200mph on the highway and ****** and got a speeding ticket, nonetheless he continued the journey....

so you're saying you know UK's driving laws better than someone from the UK?

and AFAIK, the only time clarkson went above 200 was in germany's autobahn, which is the only public road in the world where you can go as fast as you want as long as the traffic/weather allows.

There are plenty of public roads in australia with no limit.

I saw 140mph on my modded '94 Mustang GT speedo back in the late 90s in the wee hours of a Sunday morning on my way to the inaugural CART race at California Speedway. I was cruising up the 15 freeway approaching Temecula and another Mustang GT came up and passed me while I was doing 85mph when he passed me so I just played keep up for a short while and soon enough we were doing 140mph. I backed off at that point.

My Cav is limited to 108mph, I've hit it many times.
Without the governer, the top speed is 125-130mph.

I did 120mph in a 2002-2004 body Carrera once, 115mph in a Cayenne V6.
Not customer cars, but people I know with those cars.
