What's the fastest on-the-fly burning?

I remember in the CD Speed hompage they list up to 16x with current CDROM / DVD drives. Is on-the-fly burning still limited to 16x? There hast really been much improvement in the 'source' end of on-the-fly burning.

My buddy just told me he went disc to disc at 40x on the fly. 6000kps
