15:30, yesterday. I hadn't run in years but I'm on a health kick since my beer gut became a distinguishing feature. Beer guts do not look good on the skinny.

why do you noobs need to lie, especially that fatass safeway who claims a time that beat a world record, what a fuvking looser you are. if you didnt run in HS then dont post, your dick doesnt grow by the BS.

i ran 15 min/mile in HS, my best time is 12 and most of the 1 mile was done by walking because i was so damn tired 5-8 into running.

4:30 like 10 years ago after college on a road course. My 1500 m PR is 4:17 and that's 1 hour after 2 brats and a Mountain Dew. My record for the chunder (1 mile with 4 beers between laps) is around 6:40. I really don't run the mile that much, mostly 5000 m (where a lot of my mile splits aren't far from my mile PR). Now, my knees are dead and I'm getting my ass kicked in biking.

7:20 about 15 years ago when I was still in the military. Now, I run 8:30 miles pretty steady.

never ran a mile, i don't believe in running. i'd much rather hop on a bike and accomplish the same distance in 1/3 the time :p

7:25 in frosh year. Soon I learned that there's no point in trying. I lose 1point in PE by getting an 8 min time, so I made every effort to get 8:5x .. as close to 9:00 as possible, whcih means occasional walking muhahahahaha. Hey, if I put in little effort and get an A still, then that is teh win. I think I only tried on mile times back in jr high....

I just remember my like 22 min 2 mile time because I walked half of it knowing that it didnt count for a grade. LoL. Of course I have gotten 16 something too, but I dont remember exactly seconds, but that was before I figured out the art of slacking in PE.

The fastest one I know about was about 7:05. It was 2years ago when I was 36yrs old. Typically I run in the 8's when I run as a normal workout. That time I was trying to keep up with a friend who convinced me to run races. I took home a thrid place trophy from that race. It seems that I always run faster during races as the competition fires me up and I usually train for longer distances then the race is for. I pretty much run 3.6miles three times a week or so.

Is anyone planning on running the The Great Cow Harbor 10k? It's on Sept. 17th this year. It would be cool to meet someone from Anandtech there. BTW: You can still check races times from the past few years at the site. Last years were way off due to torential rains (finished the last past in ankle deep water). The best part about that race is the FREE BEER at the end! PM me if you are going to sign up.

If you like that, you should run the Utica Boilermaker. It's 9.3 miles, but you get all the Saranac beer you want at the post-race party. It's awesome. :D

Well last night I ran in a 5K and my split times were 9:38, 18:42 and finish time was 28:00. That is the first 5K i have ever run where I have a time that is accurate.

I do not train to run, I just go out there and do it.
I get my excercise from swimming, which helps my breathing immensely.

It does not take into account someone with a lot of muscle mass.

Nonsense, good sir, 8 minutes is a very good time. Sure, it might not look like much next to a 5 minute mile, but compared to a 3:50 mile, 5 minutes is slow too :p

8 min mile is still a constant (albeit slow paced) jog. Most people have to be in half decent shape to run an 8 min mile.

ATOT is the fastest collection of computer nerds I ever heard of ^^
I'll give the benefit of the doubt to most people considering there are over 100k users here. Even for a computer forum, there must be some fast runners out of 100k people.

Oh and to the guy running 13min on a treadmill at 25 degree incline... that's a great time. Running a mile at a 25 degree incline is insane. You must be in great shape. Your average stair case is 30 degrees or so.

the biggest shens in this thread is not so much the mile times as it is the "30 years ago when I was in high school"....give me a break - 90% of you are still in HS...

just kidding - but this has been a joy to read.

edit: ohh...and 5:54 for me - in HS ... 6 years ago.
