If Woodie ever gets a life, maybe he can come too 😉

Gotta get Wolfman out riding too. 😀

He's gotta get a bike first, although I do still have my second bike for sale

1. how do you pronounce hayabusa?

2. how fast are these bikes in the 1/4 mile?

1) hi-ya-boo-sa (or just call it busa for short)
2) With a good rider, upper 9's. Check out my post above, it has a link to sport rider magazine's 1/4 times for each bike

That video only reinforces the reason I will never buy a 'Busa.

A Duck 916 on the other hand 🙂

The older ducatis were awesome looking bikes. Too bad they redesigned them for 03, they're UGLY now!!! I would take a 998 over the newer, uglier 999 anyday.

Gotta love ebay and the drool factor looking over all the 916's for sale and realizing that IF i were to sell my bike, I could put a nice downpayment on a sweetass 916

actually, I haven't seen the video of the turbo...anyone got a link for that?? I'd like to see it

Dave

I actually have a video of fastbikes magazine doing a comparison of R1 and the Busa in 1999. It shows them riding tapped out full speed on a highway in France. They have a helmet camera on the R1. The speedo is indicating 190 mph. It's actually more like 170-175mph, bikes usually are a bit generous with speedometer error. Anyway, the R1 is tapped out in 6th gear and the Busa flies by it like it's standing still. I only have 128k up, so if someone wants to host it I'll send it to them

Damn, I'd like to see that!!!

I found someone else hosting the same vid.

My two cents on this is of course not worth too much, but I would say keep your current machine even if you were to get a Duck. Reason being that while they are a sweet ride, longer trips really make for a pain- literally.

Haven't posted in a while but had te reply to this post...

The fastest motorcycle is the turbo-for-an-engine(think airplane-style) bike that Jay Leno has. It's top speed is really only limited by how much distance you have to go straight.

The fastest production motorcycle is currently the 2003 Suzuki GSX-R1000. All the bikes are limited to 186MPH now anyways, so it's kind of a moot point.

The GSX-1300R, or Hayabusa, has a nickname: Heavy Bus. It's self explanatory, just try and whip that thing through the twisties.

About the Ducatis... they are pretty, but compared to any one of the current japanese liter-bikes(or 600's for that matter), they can't compete. The V-Twins only have an advantage on small, technical tracks like those in WSBK, where all the bikes weigh the same and the V-Twins are allowed more extensive modifications than the I4's.

Sorry for the poor grammer, I'm going on 1 hour sleep.
