I am really interested in *wasting* $100 for a card that I plan to overclock the crap out of, I got a few v3's, but I need them, and I guess that I want to buy another one (82.99-$10 instant rebate-$30 mail in from MSRP=42.99) because they are so solid and cool for price, but I was wondering something like Viper II, or perhaps voodoo2 (stupid suggestion because they are the same price as v3's :( )

What can I get a Viper II for? Maybe a 540 extreme, remember this is only for oc'ing and breaking.

Trinitron, if you read this, I ordered those little rams, I put them on my v3 3k (sgram) and they fit perfectly, I also added a athlon 700 fan on it, and I oc'ed to 200mhz, no probs so far, but without ram sinks, I get 190mhz :(

The GeForce2MX seem to suit your needs. It's clocked at 175/166, easily overclockable to 210/210. They cost around $120, good buy.

can someone tell me what "MX" is? Is it some kind of budget gf2???

You sure that the v3's are award winners for $40??? It's fun as hell to try to reach 220mhz, I know of people that can do it easily, with big heatsinks on ram of course :D:D. They need to make a program that can go up to 300mhz :|

Anandtech did a preview of the GeForce2 MX, it's on the front page, you shouldnt have any problems locating it.

ssjgokou1,

Yeah the MX is a value version of the GF2. It's only got two pipelines and comes at a lower default clock speed. But it overclocks like a dream!!! Almost as good as a GF DDR for a bit more than half the price! Check out Anand's review of it, and the overclocking one as well. :)

When are the MXs coming out?

Until then I'd say a ~$80 V3 2000 OCed to +183 is best bang-for-buck (no 32 bit color though, but you do get Glide for Unreal-engine games).

You can check it out at nvidia's site which state that GeForce2 MX will be on sale as early as next week. :)

Killer ape, the v3 2k's are half the price that you wrote, about the MX, what's the point of it? I don't think that nVIDIA has ever made a bargain version of a card before.

ssjgokou1: True, that nVidia has never made a good bargain video card. Thats why we call the GeForce2MX the first good nVidia value video card.

Didnt you see how it performed? And didnt you see the price? Exactly my point.

Fine. Then that makes the V3 2000 even a better deal :). If you can find MXs for ~$120 in a week or two then THAT will be the best sub $150 vidcard, but until then the V3s are. Although aren't TNT2Us falling in that price range now as well?

If you can get DDR GEForce/near GTS performance from a $120 MX (which Anand's review indicates you will), then nVidia has a real winner on their hands.

TNT2 M64 is good for it's price, but it really gets destroyed by V3 2000 and Velocity 100.
