whats the Fastest car <-> cheapest insurance rate ratio

Whats the fastest car (I mean like 10-20K dollar range) that wont eat up a hole in your insurance bill? Please help me out. Thanks.

Something older to not get hit by new car insurance rates... something 4 cyl / 4door, etc... How about a Sentra Spec V or Celica GT-S for something newer, or perhaps VW VR6. You could get almost anything you want for $20k that is a little older... high mile TT supra, TT Z32 in great shape, etc.

EDIT: The supra / z32 would be pretty heavy on insurance even with something older. If I personally had $15k and wanted to buy the fastest car for the cheapest insurance, I would buy a '99 Miata (rwd, 50/50 weight dist) for about $9-10k and slap a turbo on her. Love miatas.

you want a car that's cheap to run, cheap to insure right and that will be fast/

then look for cars NOT on the stolen list or not a common car.. you want something like a suzuki or a dawoo or a kia or a hyundai or a mazda etc etc.. basically car's that is NOT a Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Chevy,Dodge, Ford, BMW or MERC.

You can always mod a car like a hyundai tiburon and get it to be fast as hell.

Camaro Z28 is pretty damn cheap to insure... It has pretty much cheap parts. It's faster than almost anything in $10k - $20k range.

you want my real opinion? well, as far as i know insurance rates are determined by engine size, like i heard an I4 like most imports are less than say, a Z28. well, i didn't just hear this, i know this.

okay, so fastest car you ask? you asked for fastest, not best looking so...:

civic hatchback with a B18a/c (integra vtec) engine swap, nos, and turbo.

I dont know about that.
a 5.7L V8 raises your insurance a bit.. 😉

my car is cheap as hell to insure... it's insured as "4 door Neon" but it's a Neon R/T... so that's cool. they didn't even ask if it was an R/T or ACR or anything... how expensive could a "4 door Neon" be to insure? pretty cheap! 😀

whoa, one of my friends in HS back in da day told me he was payin almost 5k a year for his Z28. considering he was probably exaggerating, but still. besided, i asked my agent back in the day when i was looking at one, he told me don't even look it was too high.

it's not just how fast the car is, there are two other important areas to look

1) theft rates depending on your area

2)saftey of the car

a car is expensive, but medical bills are outrageous. Obsiouly one can correlate speed to accidents but it's not the only thing that drives the insurance up. Hondas have high theft rates, SUV's are quite dangerous. Look at a cars safety ratings and theft rates, not to mention the cost of repairs... a z28 has high insuance because of the v-8 and the fact that once that car is hit, it's pretty much done for. My friend had a z28 that was in an accident, he wasn't hurt and the accident didn't *seem* to do much damage... but the car is mostly plastic and the design doesn't allow for an easy repair job (the engine is pretty much under the dash of the car).

My Z28 is cheap for me.. I have $300k, $500 deductible and I pay $580 for 6 months. I'm using AIG.

BTW, I turned 21 a month ago.

Hands down winner - the new Accord Coupe 6-speed. 250HP (with high octane gas), 0-60 in under 6 seconds. My insurance rate in a high crime area is $1200/year with full coverage and $500/$500 deductable. Beat that.

Ok WRX 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and my insurance is 1100 with full coverage.

While I'm here, I'll ask a similar question - what cars have the cheapest type of insurance? My wife and I are paying way too much in car insurance, and our cars aren't even that sporty, they're fairly new and in good shape. I have a 4 door dodge neon, she has a 2 door Geo Storm. Both are great on gas mileage, and are basically economy cars. I plan on replacing her Storm soon as we want something more of a family car for when we have kids. So what cars carry the cheapest insurance?

My '03 WRX costs more than $200 LESS per year for full coverage insurance than my '98 Integra GSR. Almost all the difference (from the policy breakdown) is the Comprehensive coverage (theft).

edit: and the WRX costs $950/year to insure 🙂

Believe it or not, but my '95 VW GTI VR6 was dirt cheap to insure. Much, much, much cheaper than my 4 door, anemic '94 camry. 😕

Just keep in mind, that it usually is more expenisive, not always, but most of the time, to insure a foreign car

the hot version of a family sedan is going to be cheapest to insure, and 4 doors is less than 2 doors, usually.
