whats the fastest AMD dual board i can get

As of today, the only two Dual-Athlon boards you can purchase are both made by Tyan. They are designed to be used in high-end servers, but would make a dandy desktop computer. Kind of a waste of money, IMO, but hey, I do what I want w/my money and you can do the same w/yours! I wish I had the scratch for a DualBird rig!

There is the Tyan Thunder and the Tyan Tiger. AFAIK, the only diffs are:

1. Tiger uses a standard ATX power supply (very good!) and the thunder uses a proprietary (very bad) that will set you back about $200, just for the ps.
2. Thunder has onboard SCSI160 and dual NiCs. Tiger has none of that.

You will need ECC ram for both boards.


I don't think the Tiger has onboard IDE raid, but I could be wrong. YOu could always check them out HERE.
