What's the fastest 128mb geforce card out?

I don't think any card out has 128MB onboard. The GeForce4 is rumored to have this much memory. However, I don't know exactly when it comes out. It doesn't really matter though. More than 64MB is just unecessary in the resolutions at which we play games. Even 32MB hardly gets stressed. If your friend really want 128MB onboard, he will just have to wait.

hmm...i didnt know that there were 128 mb geforce cards out yet...thats news to me...to my knowledge, the geforce3 ti500 is currently the fastest card, and it has 64 megs of ram.....i know that there are 128mb cards out, but i dont think they are gaming cards, they are made for professional graphic designers....i think that im right, but hopefully soemone will confirm this for you

ok you nutbreakers, whats the fastest card out period then. damn.

and what's the best for video... maybe a built in tv card or somethin

If he must have that much than I am guess he wants to do a lot of cad work or something? Only cards with that much memory are the FireGL cards and I think Quadro2's or 3's have those. They will both be really fast cards since they are based off Radeon 8500 and geforce 3's, but they are both going to run over 1000 bucks. I know newegg has the firegls in stock, go check em out.

nono, he has only 560 dollars to spend...

like 300 punts as he lives in the uk....

he wants a damn fast card with alot of ram on it..... fast ram... and he say's he uses wintv alot.. so he must watch tv on it i think... and i know he watches alot of divX's and plays wolfentein/q3 alot.

thx

The GeForce3 Ti500 and Radeon 8500 are the fastest cards out for 3D gaming. If you want a built-in TV tuner, then the Radeon 8500 DV would be your best bet. It even comes with a nifty little remote for your TV tuner. It is a tad slower than the regular 8500, but it is still plenty fast. Radeon cards are also better for watching DVDs.

the fastest card out now is the geforce3 ti500...but there are always faster ones that come out about once every 6 months or so...and i think that there are new ones on the horizon soon, so if he can wait, it might be worth it to him (although there isnt anything out now that will fully utilize the power of most cards anyways)

ya, ok.. so any ti500

aren't there some with faster memory though? or do they all perform the same basically anyway??

The Radeon 8500 has faster memory than the Ti500, although it doesn't perform any faster at the moment. Future driver updates may turn the tables a bit.

Yes, the Ti500 is the fastest chip attainable today. Almost all perform the exact same way. If i had to buy a GC today, I would buy the Gainward Ti550 (Renamed by gainward the "ti550" since it can usually go faster than most Ti500 when overclocked).

I would reccomend the GeForce 3 Ti 500 if you want THE FASTEST card, but if you want to save some nice cash & get performance close enough that you probably won't see the difference, go for a GeForce 3 Ti 200. I would reccomend that you stay away from ATi though as their driver support isn't very promising.

Gainward has a 128MB GF3 Ti200 card available.
Besides that, there is the 128MB SiS315 card available.

Those are the only two consumer graphics cards with 128MB of RAM.
If you want anything else with 128MB of RAM you'll have to look towards ATi's FireGL 4, FireGL 8800, a few 3DLabs WildCat, and GVX models and Evans & SutherLand cards, and nVidia's Quadro 2.
Those are all professional level 3D rendering card made for 3D animation and CAD however and are NOT intended for home users. Besides the Quadro 2, and FireGL8800 the professional level cards will in fact perform quite poorly in gaming.

The SiS315 is also hardly intended for much more then basic gaming uses.

That leaves Gainward's Ti200 w/128MB of RAM as the only real 'gaming' card available with 128MB of RAM.
It's pretty much a useless purchase though as 128MB of RAM is overkill for any modern games. Few games even utilize more then 32MB of RAM even if your running at resolutions like 1600x1200x32bpp.
Unless this guy intends to run all his games at 1600x1200x32bpp w/4X FSAA enabled then I can't realistically seeing him gaining much from having more RAM on a card.... even the best cards available would choke and die trying to run with 4X FSAA at 1600x1200x32bpp anyway.

The highest performance gaming cards presently available are ATi's Radeon 8500, and nVidia's GeForce3 Ti500.... both of which are only available with 64MB RAM.

Well the 8500 has the fastest ram but the ti500 is a bit faster though...
also both those cards are faster than the two 128MB cards mentioned, AFAIK most cards with that much memory are probably professional graphic boards that are in the 2k+ price range.
