I mean seriously.... why do so many manufacturers of computer hardware/software use the letter "X" so much? Why are people so stuck on using it? For example:

Corsair XMS RAM
Geil Ultra X RAM
Kingston HyperX RAM
Crucial BallistX RAM
Windows XP
Athlon XP
Radeon X800
GeForce FX5200/5600
Radeon 9800XT
Shuttle XPC Barebone System
Thermaltake Xaser Full-Tower
SiS Xabre
VOSONIC X'sDrivePro Portable MP3

To name a few. And those are just ones I can think of off the top of my head. Anyone know why companies love using the letter X?

its the X factor. the letter X has a forbidden, advanced feel to it. its also the coolest letter towards the end of the alphabet. Y and Z are stupid.

it's used in math, so there's a lot of mystery behind it. They use it in science often

Buried treasure is the reason, everyone is looking for buried treasure. All the slick people in marketing are thinking they can trick amature tresure hunters into buying their products while searching for pirate booty.

X is the only symmetric looking letter other than O, but lets face it, O is pretty dumb. A circle? Oh yeah, like we haven't seen that before. And the greek letter for X was Xi. Man Xi is so cool. Omnicron is pretty cool too but again, that whole circle thing...
