From a brand new HD and CDRom and Win98SE floppy.

Cannot boot from CD
(Don't know if drive or bios doesn't support it)

If it's the full version of XP, boot from the CD (if your PC supports it). Otherwise boot with the bootfloppy and start winnt.exe, which is located in the /i386 folder on the CD.

format the HD, set the bios to boot from CD, insert the XP CD, and follow the screen instructions. Easiest MS install yet!

Well if your system doesnt support booting from the CDROM then pop in a bootable floppy disk and run winnt.exe from the /I386 directory on the XP CD.

Ok, I tried it earlier, but it said I could not install from DOS mode.

Maybe I did something wrong. Will try again in a couple hours.

Thanks

What kind of board are you using? Boards nowadays support CDrom boot. Maybe you need to upgrade.

Ok, I got it to boot from floppy and copy the files from the cd-rom.
When it restarts and starts the actual setup routine, it freezes when copying files. (gm.dls in particular) Anyone else have this problem?
