what's the earliest clear memory you have?

My earliest clear memory is that of two men, one white, one black, pulling off their sunglasses & putting their rather large inkpens in their pockets.

You lie. You can't remember stuff from 9 months. Your brain isn't even low-level functioning at that point...

Not lying at all. It is possible to have memories that early it is just very rare. I have confirmed with my mother the events of that afternoon and there is no way I could know it if I had not actually remembered it. I have a lot more memories from when I was between 1 and 2 years old and many from when I was 3. I know the floor plan and the layout of the yard of the home I lived in until I was three. There is no documentation of this stuff. My mother is amazed at the things I tell her from when we lived in that house that there is no way I could know unless I remember. My brother who is 2 years younger than me does not remember much more that where we actually lived when we were kids. He doesn't remember stuff from when we were in college. People are different. I have a photographic memory and always have.

I can vaguely remember seeing reports about Vietnam on TV. I had to be around 2 or so. I didn't understand any of it and much of it was maps and stuff like that, but I remember it.

I recall something similar, but it was about the West Bank. I remember thinking it was in the US, because it was on daily on the 1 US channel we got back then.

First memory i had was of a bright light and cold. Then some bastard slapping me in the ass while holding me up in the air.

I remember the motel i used to live in before going to pre-k. I think that would have made me 3 or so.

Of course it's possible. I not only remember my 4th birthday (including the two candles ont the cake: A blue and white "4" and a bear-shaped one with a circular "4" sticker on its belly), but I distinctly remember many things from when I was 3 years old. I remember seeing my sister wheeled out of the hospital with her new daughter in January 1984 when I was 3.25 years old. I also remember playing with her toys and in her playpen before she was born. I remember unplugging a lamp and getting shocked, which I also believe was late 1983/early 1984. All of this was in the US Virgin Islands, where I watched a man climb a palm tree and get a coconut my mother paid for, a teenager let us all touch a starfish he found, I fell into a hole at the beach and got lungs full of water, I saw crystal-clear colorful fish in the coral straight through 12+ feet of water, I would run out on the balcony to see cruise ships several times a day, I would go to the bakery for cookies that were shaped like things (a fire truck, for example), I would play at a friend's house, I would get freaked out by sounds coming from the woods and run inside screaming that elephants were going to get me, and I got extremely jealous when my uncle gave my twin brother a blue Hot Wheels truck with two yellow plastic motorcycles on the back. Heck, I also remember not being allowed to watch He-Man but watching it anyway, being forced to wear diapers until I picked up my blocks, and on and on and on.

Yeah. I remember exiting my mother's womb.

🙄

I remember hanging in my dads nutsack trying not to get killed by each time during masturbation. Had a couple of close shaves but phew...

Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) on the moon, i remember some of the apollo moon landings on tv
i kinda remember some things before that?

I remember my brother falling down the stairs on christmas eve. I was 3 years old. Is that possible? or is it my mind manufacturing a memory from my parents telling us the story so many times.

I have plenty of memories from when I was young, but have no idea which is the earliest!..LOL...How do you gauge time when you have no knowledge of it when young?

Earliest thing is a very rough visualization of the house we lived in when I was 3.

After that, I remember my mom getting my brothers (but not me, I was 4) X-men masks. My brothers got a cyclops one where the eyes lit up and a wolverine one that came with velcro on claws

Harry was a white dog with black spots. On his birthday he got a present from grandma. It was a green sweater with roses on it. Harry didn't like it the moment he saw it. Harry didn't like the roses.

I was two years old and it was the live broadcast of the moon walk. We were in the living room and I was crawling around on the floor. Not sure why I remember it but I've brought it up to my parents over the years and they have confirmed the scene that I remember.

either the night they brought my sister home from the hospital or sticking my finger in an electrical outlet. dont know which was first

since this thread devolved, I saw myself as both my mom's egg and my dad's ALPHA spermazoa.

After that I remember a lot.

Many recreate photos in their mind.

I didn't have alot of photos to do so.

I have a vague memory of being breast-fed. I could have been a newborn or anywhere under 1 year old. I also have a clear memory of running to the back (and front) of a passenger airplane. I was around 3 back then.

On the topic of flashback, I remember re-visiting a house I used to frequent a lot when I was 7. Everything was exactly how I remembered it but everything also looked oddly (if logically) a lot smaller.

The Kennedy assassination. Well, not actually the day he was shot but the funeral on TV. I didn't understand what happened, but I sure could feel the dark mood of the country that day. I was three.

I never really lost that association of feeling with JFK.
