What's the Difference In DDR3 RAM Between Manufacturers?

Trying to decide if there was any real difference between DDR3 1600 RAM between different manufacturers, or even within manufacturers.

Specifically, i can't seem to discover the difference in G.Skill's Ripjaws and Sniper series, or how those two compare to Coarsiar's or Mushkin's offerings.

Any ideas?

RAM is RAM, the 3 manufacturers you have mentioned are all quality names, it used to matter a hell of a lot more if one brand overclocked slightly better than another but nobody really cares nowdays. Just pick up the cheapest 1600mhz set you can find from a decent brand and be done with it.

some manufactures do not care too much in making their ram look better, espically the generic stuff. Most will give the ram timmings which can be used to tell some appart and others will have better warrenty (ie: a few years vs life ect).

Though the high end ones will also advertise overclocking numbers that you should get as a minium and these ones are generally the higher priced ram units.

If just looking for something to use, the main detail you need is what voltage the ram uses as even with ddr3, I think they are starting to look at about 3 different voltage levels and the cpu generally has a perfered level (ie old i5/i7's used 1.65V, curret SB using 1.5V and their is talk of some lower voltage DDR for the next version of chips.).

in the end though, nearly all ram supports a common speed at a given FSB so performance (if not overclocking) is expected to be about the same (factional points in a bentch mark comparison ect).

1) Buy RAM that matches the color of the rest of your system.

2) Buy the cheaper RAM.

3) Buy the lower voltage RAM.

4) Buy RAM with short enough heatspreaders that will go underneath your ginormous heatsink/fan.

1 and 4 are true. RAM isnt just RAM, and high end RAM isnt just high end RAM. Thee is low end RAM that will destroy all high end RAM, its all about the chips used inside of it.
