What's the difference btw OEM CF card and brand-name ones?

I am looking to purchase a 128MB CF card for my digital camera. But when I look at my local computer stores, they have OEM 128MB CF card and SanDisk ones for sale. There's quite a bit of a difference in price between the two.

So I'm just wondering if there's a real difference between the 2? Or are we just paying the extra $$ for the brand-name?

Sandisk are a very reputable maker of Flash - no doubt their card comes with some documentation, possibly a product guide or something like that aswell.

The OEM card will be just the card itself. Naturally with CF cards documentation isn't really necessary, so that doesn't matter too much, and they're not the most complex devices in the world - nor are they performance-orientated.

Basically speaking, you should be right with the OEM card - but its your call...

Different cards have different read/write speeds. Lexar, Crucial and Viking score highly. Another issue is battery life. Some cards seem to draw more power and will drain batteries faster. NewEgg's house brand, Mr Flash, seem sto be particularly nasty, draining a PocketPC battery more than twice as fast as a Kingston or Lexar card.
