What's the difference between Win98 and Win98se?

I just built 2 PCs using win98, nothing else is installed yet. And now I just got win98se. Should I re-install everything using 98se, or will I get the same thing if I just install the everything from the windowsupdate.microsoft page? I don't mind re-installing if it means my system will be better (faster/more stable).

Thanks,
Ken

W98SE is just W98 with bug fixes... might run a little bit faster than "original" W98, contains newer drivers and is a bit more bloated. As for stability: haven't seen any W9x yet that would deserve to be called "stable" (maybe it's just me, but compared with other OS-es, it seems to be most unstable)

Anything to do with Win9x is unstable, buggy, bloated or all of the above. An example of all of the above would be WinME.

So anyways.....

SE has some newer drivers and bugfixes. Probably adds some different bugs, too. But overall SE is arguably the best version of the 9x family of windows (including Windows ME). I'd reinstall.

So I guess it might be worth my while to re-install (even if it just for the added driver support)? Probably no difference, but like Workin' said, it's arguably the best version.

I do have WinME as well, but have been holding off installing it. From all the reviews I've read, ME seems to have no performance advantage over 9x. These are mainly going to be gaming machines so that was a big factor.

98se is 98 with all the newest drivers and patches (as of when 98se was created), and adds support for ICS (Internet Connection Sharing).

Win95 OSR 2.5 was the BEST OS based on the 9x kernel. 98se is 2nd to it (only cause its gotten bloated)
