What's the difference between Thoroughbred & Palomino?

I need to build a new box and they seem to be the same price for the same speed, atleast at newegg.

Which is prefered for the Epox 8K5A2+ or the Epox 8RDA+?

Get the Thoroughbred B ( not A - [B oc better than A]) cpu, it runs cooler, overclocks better. Epox 8RDA(+), oc king.

Been readin the customer posts at newegg about the 'A' vs 'B' issue. Seems to be a crap shoot and just luck if you can get the 'B'.

I guess the Palomino is generally to be avoided, given the choice?

if ou wanna oc, then yeah palomino=avoid

if you get xp2100+, i think they actually have a tbred b option
1700+ is a crap shoot i believe

diff:
for tbred:
smaller die, cooler (although smaller die has less surface area to disipate heat, so this could be argued), much better ocer!

epox 8rda+ is a damn nice board ive seen

Who says to avoid the palomino?? 😛

palomino = first athlonxp design on 0.18µ
t-bred = new and improved 0.13µ process, so they basically cost less to manfacture and they run cooler, and scale better(better for overclocking)

AGOIA?? AKhem. 😛

i swear i saw some nice agoia's lol........and aroia

fine...all of the ones that oced well
lol

main poster: if you want u can get a xp1600+ that, after serachin on the forums and www.overclockers.com, had a pretty good oc on average...

other than that...i think its stay away from palominos....other than a few 1800+'s as well...i had one that does 1.8ghz....

fine, for a better chance at getting a pretty high oc, go wtih JIUHB 1700+, or AIUHB 2100+....theres more (2400+) but they cost more lol

//edit
forgot to address the underlying hint lol
AGKGA also a pretty good one

LOL, I'm a bitch?? 😀

I find that week 2 of 2003 are the best overclockers. Correct me if I'm wrong. 🙂

Palomino-The first Athlon XP core on the .18um process
T-Bred A-the palomino core, but on the .13um process. Had difficulties reaching higher speeds
T-Bred B-An improved version of the T-Bred A with an added ninth layer to enable it to reach high clockspeeds

the green and brown chips can be the Palo, or both T-Breds
yes, WCPUID can tell you what you have
