Is the only difference between the two the fact that the CUSL2 comes with onboard sound and the CUSL2-C does not?

CUSL2 has i815E, CUSL2-C uses i815EP. CUSL2 also has AGP Pro slot and onboard video, CUSL2-C doesnt.

Just wanted to clarify that both of those boards do have the AGP-Pro slot...the way it was stated could be mis-interpeted.

The Asus site has a picture of the AGP universal slot, and it says AGP 4x slot, didn't see the word "Pro" there.

Read the introduction section: 133MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) and provided support for PC133/PC100 SDRAM, AGP Pro/4X, and ultra-fast UDMA/100 Bus Master IDE.

The -C has no AGP pro slot: I own one!
The CUSL2 does not have onboard sound. It has a AGP pro slot, support for 7 USB devices, 2 CNR slots to the -C's one slot and has integrated video, which the -C does not have. The CUSL2's got an i815E chipset, while the -C's got the i815EP. The price differnce between the 2 is about $ 25, the CUSL2 being more expensive!

whats it good for....today, nothing, suppose to give more juice to higher end video cards....I think.....think pro slots have been out almost a year now, don't think there is a card out there that uses it.

CUSL2: i815E chipset with onboard i752 video, 7USB ports, 2CNR, AGP Pro slot.
CUSL2-C: i815EP chipset, no onboard i752 video, 4USB ports, 1 CNR, Standard AGP4X slot, no support for PPGA Celerons.

AGP Pro slots provide either 50watts or 150watts of power to very high end graphics cards....some nVidia Quadro cards use them. There are currently no consumer level cards requiring AGP Pro slots. Difference between these and AGP4X slots? No speed difference. AGP Pro is simply a 4X slot with 50 extra pins for additional power.

Indeed the CUSL2-C board does NOT have an AGP Pro slot as previously mentioned, I just wanted to add one more clarification. Either board will work very well in whatever situation you throw at it. Excellent boards.

also, CUSL2 has two COM ports right on the board, while CUSL2-C has one COM port on board and you can connect second COM port via included cable. Does anybody know any reason why they didn't include 2 COM ports as they do in every other board ?

One more interesting thing I've noticed on Asus's CUSL2-C webpage

*Both 815E/815EP chipsets support the features specified for the CUSL2-C motherboard. ASUS reserves the option to provide either chipset for the CUSL2-C.

Andrey: both the CUSL2 and the CUSL2-C have one serial port in the ATX stack, and one as a bracket connected via cable. Both have exactly the same serial port configuration.

With regards to your second point, the initial run of CUSL2-C boards produced before January actually had an i815E chipset rather than an i815EP chipset. The onboard video out was left off. Essentially, ASUS ate the cost of giving us a higher priced chipset giving us a cheaper board sooner, before Intel started producing i815EP chipsets.

Some people have complained that they ought to have an i815EP chipset rather than the full i815E chipset on their CUSL2-C, which is the reason for ASUS's disclaimer.
