Is the only difference in how they get to places? Does the 101st Air Assault (i.e. gets into a blackhawk and gets dropped off), while the 82nd parachutes in from a C-17?

The 101st and 82nd are both Airborne. During WWII they both were parachute divisions. The 101st switched to Helos, Air Assault, around Vietnam time.

82nd is an airborne divison(Parachuting from planes). The 101st is an Air Assault division (transported in by helicopter) with lots of attack helicopter support. They have something like 70 Apaches.
