What's the difference between the 2 styles of klipsch 4.1's?

I'm looking for some new speakers. They have 2 kinds of klipsch 5 piece speakers at best buy. One is $199.99, the other is $279.99. The tags don't tell you anything, and they had the boxes hidden away, so the only difference I saw was an extra button on the more expensive set. The power ratings were the same - 160W sub, 10W satellites. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Wow, those are some great prices (it's rare to see a discount on the MSRP for the Klipsch ProMedias).

I'm assuming that your Best Buy is lucky and still carries the ProMedia v.2-400 (BUT, since they were discontinued several months back, those v.2-400s are probably old and have been subjected to whatever the Best Buy warehouse people like to do).

The main difference between the v.2-400 ($199.99) and the 4.1 ($279.99) is that the cheaper ProMedias lack the "upgraded" crossover for a cleaner midrange which the 4.1s have. Also, the 4.1s come with the new CP-1 preamp control pod which has a "soft off" button and a headphone jack and input for minidisc CD player et. al.

So which should you get? I would get the v.2-400s. I am running both and there is only a minimal sound difference between the v.2-400 and 4.1 speakers. If you really like the CP-1 preamp...get the 4.1s because you'll pay $50 if you buy them seperately from Klipsch's website.

The 4.1's have 4-60W sattelites, and a 160w Sub for a total of 400W
And they rock
The 2.1s have 2-40W sattelites and a 120W Sub for a total of 200W

it's prolly the old v2-400s and the new 4.1s ... the new one comes w/ the new preamp (can be bought for $50 from klipsch for the old set).. but the biggie is the crossovers were supposedly improved fixing the midrange issues.
