Why do all these banks end in either Mac or Mae?

Farmer Mac
Freddie Mac
IndyMac

Fannie Mae
Ginnie Mae
Sallie Mae

The difference between me and Big Mae is that Mae has (or had) big breasts and I (guess I) don't.

Mae and Mac are just NAMES, nothing more.

Fannie Mae is suppose to be a twist on FNMA which is their is acronym for their official name: "Federal National Mortgage Association"

Freddie Mac REAL name is actually "Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation" or
FHLMC.

Sallie Mae has its name because it used to be SLMA or "Student Loan Marketing Association" But its government charter ended so its name is now officially
"SLM Corporation".

Farmer Mac real name is "Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation" or FAMC.

Fixed. Freddie Mac's real business name is actually Freddie Mac. They made the change official in 1997. The current Wikipedia on Feddie Mac is wrong.
