what's the difference between loctite types?

every time I need loctite I seem to use a difference color or type, either at work or at home. anyone know what the differences and actual usages are of each of them?

Some you can break free with your fingers, others require a wrench, and the heaviest duty may need a torch to bust loose!

It depends how much you wank to "lock" the bolt you are tightening.

Some can make it near impossible to remove the bolt should you need to in the future.

The strength colors are blue, red and green. Blue is what you would use if you just wanted snug bolts. Blue also comes in a oil tolerant flavor that's good for valve covers, oil pans, etc. Red comes in two flavors: Regular and high-temp. Red requires a good bit of torque to pop loose. Green is called "wicking" it's said to be "very penetrating for pre-assembled parts." Whatever that means. 🙂

Blue is for stuff you want to get apart someday as long as the parts are not small (8-32 threads and such) If its small the blue will act like the red stuff which is a little more "never get apart except heating it cherry" type thing.

Never used it before but its for locking stuff that is already threaded together.
