With respect to 72 pin ram what is the difference between EDO and FP ram?
Is one better than the other?
How can you tell by looking at the modules?

Extended data output (EDO) RAM is a type of memory chip that improves the time to read from memory on older CPU's such as the Intel Pentium. EDO RAM was initially optimized for the 66 MHz Pentium. For faster computers, different types of synchronous dynamic RAM (SDRAM) are recommended/required. EDO is now outdated.

1) EDO can perform a Fetch and Send at the same time while FP can only fetch then send then fetch........... ie: Fetch block 1 then while fetching block 2 send block 1 to CPU.

2) EDO is better.

3) Lookup the part number on the web if it isn't obviously marked on the chips or SIMM.
