Have you ever bought Birks before, aphex? They don't fit like all sandals and the correct fit is paramount. I suggest trying on a pair before ordering online.

I tried some at the Walking Company but there were expensive... Felt very comfortable though... I have a torn ligament between my 4th and 5th metatarcel on my left foot and my ortho told me i can stop wearing my boot if i got some sandals that are harder soled than my reef flipflops...

Go to FW to find some tasty % off coupons AND 13% FatCash, and if I remember correctly they take off another 10% when you register. I picked up a $100 pair for $60 last year. Top that off with free shipping/returns. Shoebuy is a bit slow but they come through.

excellent, thanks :)

Did you ever find out the difference between the Betula and the Birks? I noticed a guy at the theater who has Betulas and at first I thought they were a knockoff but then I noticed that they also say Birk. Going to betula.de seems to suggest that they are the German Birks since Birks are really an American shoe based on an old German design....?

I dunno, but I do know that I love my Birks :)

According to the lady at the birk store, betula's are indeed made by birk, but use different materials than the real birks. She compared them to Toyota and Lexus. One is kind of the flagship.

The differences are apparenly in both the footbed and the cork liner beneith. Birks's can be repaired, betulas cannot. I unfortunately don't remember the specifics...

If it wasnt for othopedic reasons, i probably would have gotten the betula, but i love my birks :D
