I'm ordering an Retail ATI 8500 and the LE version is $90 cheaper than the regular 8500. IS the the 8500LE clocked lower then the regular 8500 or is it at 275/275?

Thanks.

It's clocked lower than the regular. Most have 250mhz cores while some have 230mhz cores.

$90 difference? Go grab the retail 65MB 8500 from Newegg for $164 shipped, the 64MB LELE (230Mhz) is $134 shipped so for the extra $30 go with the retail box version....

The R8500LE is clocked at 250/250 by default whereas the regular Retail boxed 8500 is clocked at 275/275.
The 'LELE' is clocked at 230/230.
The 8500DV is clocked at 230/190.
The R8500 Low Profile is clocked at 230/200.

The performance difference between the full R8500 and the 8500LE is generally about 7-8%. Though that can vary depending upon the amount of DRAM on the card, and whether it uses DDR SGRAM or SDRAM.

Thanks for the info, everybody. I'm gonna stick with the high-end 8500. I'm sick of skimpin' on video cards...CPU's yes.

I'm gonna overclock the sucker to 315/620 and have myself a GeForce4-TI4600 for half the price!
