What's the difference between an Promise Ultra 100 and an Ultra 100 TX2?

I'm looking at two computer shops, one lists the Ultra 100, the other the Ultra100 TX2...are they the same thing?

afaik, they're both essentially the same but the Ultra100 TX2 supposidly works on a 66MHz pci bus as well!

wow...can the same card work on 33Mhz and 66Mhz?

I know 32bit 33Mhz and 64bit 33Mhz are totally cross compatible, but I thought the 66Mhz was notched and volted differently...

Assuming I don't care about 66Mhz PCI though, they are the same?
Thanks for the info.

Some server boards.

32bit/33Mhz PCI is like

64bit/33Mhz PCI is like

In 64bit/66MhZ they flip the 32bit part around so you get
--- ---------- ------

It's on boards like the Asus CURDLS has them I think...serer/workstation boards. You won't see a consumer board with 64/66 PCI...you probably won't even see a consumer board with 64/33 PCI. Only 32/33.

Well I have both cards and I believe the TX2 has better error checking (at least that is what Promise says). I put the TX2 in my server and it is running perfect. ;)

well i hacve had both...still ahve the tx2....i dont think with out the additional pci mhz increase tehre would be any system performance differance though...but they were the same price when i went to buy another one so i got the tx2...the tx4 would be kewl if you were running 4 drives...but i read recently the 3ware really stomps the promises azz in a side by side i/o comparison....think storagereview.com was the place i read it
so if your thinkin of buyin check that out first
