Questions is obvious. I need to know for prom. Honestly I don't see much of a difference. Should I just stick with my suit and screw renting a tux?
A suit can be any color. A tux is always black, although you can get a white dinner jacket. Also, with a suit you wear a regular tie (unless you're dorky and wear a bow tie). With a tux you wear a black bow tie.Originally posted by: 510echo
they are very similar, although tuxs have a satin lapel and a satin stripe down the leg.

If anything, buy a new suit for the prom. You can use it later in life for your job interviews.
Rented tux's usually use cheap materials and definitely look cheap, whereas a new suit will make you stand out from the crowd.

new suit's usefulness for job interviews.... that all depends on how much beer and pizza you consume in college![]()
Trust me, you'll wear a tux. Your g/f will make sure of that.Originally posted by: ElMonoDelMar
Bah, I graduated from HS last year and my GF is a Sr this year. I'm not gonna fork over the dough for a tux. I'm just wearing my suit with some colored shirt, MAYBE even a new tie if I'm feeling ritzy.
