I'm totally confused on which video card to get to replace my GeForce MX 400 (uggh). Basically I want a Radeon, but I don't understand the differences between a 9000, a 9000 pro, and the 8500LE and 8500. Which one is the best for games (Geforce 4200 is out of the question)? Prices from NewEgg. 9000 = $66, 8500LE = $72 ($84 for a DVI version), Pro = $86, and 8500 = $92.

One more quick question, what does "no DVI to VGA adapter mean"? Thanks in advance.

i dont know about dvi to vga, but i'll tell ya this, for 6 dollars more the 8500LE is a much better buy than the 9000. it will outperform it to its fullest and will also outperform the 14 dollar more 9000 Pro (i think)

Radeon 8500: 275MHz/275MHz, 2 Textures per pass
Radeon 8500LE: 250MHz Core/250MHz Memory, 2 Textures per pass
Radeon 9000 Pro: 270MHz/275MHz, 1 Texture per pass
Radeon 9000: 250MHz/200MHz, 1 Texture per pass

So, the Radeon 8500 based cards will be faster in future games because newer games use more textures. No DVI to VGA adapter means what it says. There is no adapter that converts a DVI signal into a VGA signal.

;) Yeah the Rad8500LE is by far the best choice. The Rad9000/9000PRO cards are little more than a cut down Rad8500 intended to be cheaper to produce and thus more profitable, by and large even the Rad8500LE is significantly better than the Rad9000PRO, the 8500LE is actually VERY close to Rad8500 speeds which incidentily is roughly GF3TI500 / GF4TI4200 type capabilities and speeds! You'll be blown away by the diff from a GF2mx400 LOL!
