what's the difference between a condo and a co-op?

they're both apartments roughly the same size, while condo's seem more upscale.

you buy a condo, you don't buy a co-op. in a co-op you are required to do chores with others that live in the co-op. i could go on but i'd rather not.

Condo you own, pay monthly maintenance fees, etc. Not really sure how a co-op is different because it sounds like its pretty much the same thing.
