What's the difference between a BFG Geforce 7800 GT and one by 3DFuzion?

Looking at TigerDirect.ca's website (yes, I am Canadian), the 3DFuzion 7800 GT stands out as it's cheaper than the BFG iteration by about $50. Looking at the description of the BFG card, it says it "overclocks it an additional 25MHz on the core and 50MHz on the memory to hit a blazing 425MHz /1050MHz".

Can't I simply overclock the 3DFuzion to the same touted speeds as the BFG myself? Or, as I'm suspecting, does the company have some more reliable way to OC'ing their own cards? Basically, is it worth the extra $50 to go with the BFG version of the 7800 GT?

BFG = 3dfuzion

The cards are binned by their clocking potential. You won't be able to overclock much on the 3dfuzion. Go with the BFG for the lifetime warranty too.

But in terms of bang for your buck the 3Dfuzion can't be beat

Not true. It's entirely possible to o/c the 3dfuzion to 425MHz /1050MHz, but there is no gurantee. On the other hand, the BFG is guranteed to have run @ 425/1050 and this overclocking is also backed by a factory warranty.

3dfuzion = cheaper, 1 year warranty.

BFG = comes overclocked, and has a lifetime warranty.


I would venture a guess and say the 3Dfuzion cards are the 7800gt that couldnt make the overclock to be considered an OC 7800gt.

It is just speculation. The only obvious differences are:

3DFuzion card is not o/c'd from the factory.
Dramatically reduced warranty (1 year instead of lifetime)
This 1 year warranty alone would be reason enough to significantly lower the price.
