I had a 3600x on order from Walmart for $199, but it was due today, and I checked tracking and UPS never got the product, and Walmart customer assistance said "it was lost in shipment". I say it was a typo and they would not ship any, it should have been the 3600 they advertized. I will never buy from Walmart again.

BUT I need something to flash my motherboard for the 5950x that is due in Jan from BH Photo. And I giving too much away with the 3600 @$200 ????

It looks like the base clock speed is s a little higher on the 3600x, the boost clocks are a little higher, and it comes with a better stock cooler. The 3600x definitely retails higher and would have higher resale value, but as to how much I'm not sure.

well, nobody answered, and I didn't want to wait longer (won't be here till Jan 7), so I got the 3600. After I flash it will be for sale cheap.

Walmart used to be pretty good but have gone down the tubes as of late.
I dont know how many times i order something, they say 2-3 days and
it takes 2-3 weeks, so i cancel. There price's aren't what they used to be.
I only buy from them sometimes because i have there card.

The difference between them is not a lot, when these came out, quite a few reviews at the time said the extra £40/$50 (IIRC) wasn't worth the 5% ish increase in performance.
I doubt that their would be much difference in resale value, but there'll be some.

[edit] I saw it mentioned that the price gap shrank later on to $25 as of 4/2020
Oh and the 3600s HSF is junk, it can't keep it cool enough for all core loads without it throttling.

Yeah, not too much difference between the 3600 and 3600X. For $50 more or so, you get: 4.4Ghz single-core turbo clock, rather than 4.2Ghz, and a 95W TDP rather than a 65W TDP, which means you get a bigger heatsink in the box, I guess. To me, at least, the extra $50 wasn't worth it. Although a 3600X for $200 would have been.

Sorry that Walmart flaked out on you, Mark.

It could be worse, I've got a $117 laptop on effectively back-order (*"Delayed - check back soon"), for a month now. I don't see an option to simply cancel that item off the order. (I did get another one in a different color a week after I ordered, but this color was delayed, I fear indefinitely.)
